Torque Sensors | Torque Transducers
Reactive Torque Sensors, non-rotating
Non-rotating torque sensors (reactive or static torque transducers) are generally used for reaction measurements in most varying applications. They are wear-free and, like all of our torque sensors, designed in such way that the limit shear force and the limit thrust load, indicated in our technical data, only have minimum strain on the sensor element and thus do not affect the measurement result.
By default, our sensors provide an analog, unamplified strain gauge bridge output signal in mV/V.
Optionally, our reactive torque sensors can be supplied with an extended temperature range of -30°C up to 120°C.
Typical applications for this type of transducer are for example reaction torque measurements on extruders, test bench applications, screw driver testing, determination of bearing friction torques ... .
Rotating Torque Sensors with Slip Rings
By default, rotating torque transducers with slip rings sent an analog, unamplified strain gauge bridge output signal in mV/V, which is transmitted via high-quality, low-wear slip rings.
Slip ring sensors are generally used for individual, random inspections or torque measurements, performed at low speed.
An integrated speed/angle measurement is standardized in most torque sensors with slip ring transmission.
Typical applications for this type of sensor are for example screw driving technologies, test bench applications such as testing of engines, gears, bearings and seals ... .
Rotating Torque Sensors with non contact Transmission
Torque transducers with non contact transmission are supplied as active sensors with integrated measuring amplifiers; as output signals, analog ±5V by default, ±10V optionally, or digital RS485 or USB are available.
By the non contact transmission, the measurement data are transmitted maintenance-free and without signal distortion between rotor and stator. Integrated speed/angle measurement is available as an option for almost all non contact sensors.
Mechanically, our non contact transducers can be divided in 2 sections: sensors with bearings and bearingless sensors.
The advantage of bearingless transducers is that bearing friction cannot falsify the measurement result and they are usually designed for higher speeds.
For digital sensors, we distinguish 2 product groups: sensors with RS485 interfaces or transducers with USB interfaces.
RS485 torque transducers are characterized by a particularly high noise immunity, even with very long connection cables.
For displaying, our USB sensors do not require additional and often expensive and complicated to use measuring amplifiers. Via plug-and-play, the transmitter can be easily connected to a standard PC. Before initial operation, only the USB driver, included in the scope of delivery, as well as the configuration and analysis software must be installed on the PC.
Typical applications for this sensor type are for example screw driving technologies, test bench applications such as the examination of engines, gears, bearings and seals, … wherever high speeds in continuous operation and standardized output signals are required on sensor side.
Accessories
For our torque transducers, we provide corresponding couplings, cables and much more.
For our passive sensors we offer e.g. measuring amplifiers, such as sensor interfaces for the conversion of the bridge output signals into standardized voltage or current signals for the connection to standard interfaces; or measuring amplifiers with integrated displays for direct presentation of the measured values.
